Community Advisory Committee (CAC)

The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is a vital part of the Foothill SELPA, fostering collaboration between families, educators, and community members to support students with disabilities. The CAC works to ensure that the needs and rights of students with disabilities are represented and that families are informed, empowered, and engaged in the educational process.

Our Mission

The CAC’s mission is to provide a platform where families and community members can share insights, brainstorm ways to reduce barriers and actively participate in shaping policies and programs that impact special education. By building partnerships and promoting understanding, the CAC helps to strengthen inclusive practices and ensure that all students have access to a high-quality education.

What We Do

Advocacy and Awareness: The CAC advocates for the needs of students with disabilities by promoting policies that enhance equity, access, and inclusion.

  • Training and Education: We provide workshops and training sessions to help families better understand their rights, responsibilities, and the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process.
  • Advisory Role: The CAC advises the SELPA and local school districts on special education programs and services, ensuring that parent perspectives are considered in decision-making.
  • Community Engagement: We create opportunities for families, educators, and community members to come together, share experiences, and collaborate on improving outcomes for all students.
